Course Description
This course focuses on residential and commercial battery energy storage for both interactive and stand-alone PV systems less than 1 MW. Utility-scale battery energy storage is not discussed.
Recommended for
This course is intended for electricians, technicians, engineers, solar installers, and others who have prior knowledge of solar PV and electrical systems.
Prerequisites/required knowledge
We recommend that you take Solar PV Systems: Design and Modelling before signing up for this course, OR that you have a strong background in solar PV system design. It is assumed that participants have prior knowledge of:
Electrical terminology and electrical equipment
Ohm’s Law, Kirchoff’s Laws, and the relationship between energy and power
Solar PV module electrical I-V curve characteristics
Grid-interactive solar PV system sizing and equipment
Participants are encouraged to have a current copy of the Canadian or Alberta Electrical Code, although it is not required.
