Canadian Building Codes Transition to Net-Zero Energy

Lisa Kanik, P.Eng., C.E.M, LEED AP and AEE Alberta Chapter member will be presenting at the February 4, 2021 APEGA Calgary Branch lunch webinar on reducing energy consumption in the built environment, by developing increasingly stringent model building codes, with the goal that provinces and territories adopt a “net-zero energy ready” model building code by 2030.

The presentation will include an introduction to Energy Codes, Compliance Paths, and their approach towards achieving the proposed 2030 goals. Additional topics: cost optimization in buildings via choosing the appropriate method of compliance and by optimizing the building design (e.g. envelope, HVAC, lighting) and analyzing the building as a whole system.
