The world is on the cusp of economic and social transformation, and inequality can no longer be swept under the rug. As we continue to see profound changes in the way we create and consume energy, it is clear that gender diversity plays a critical role. Successful innovation and business adaptation depend on diversity and equality. Meanwhile, the energy sector remains one of the least gender diverse industries. Only 22 percent of women work in the traditional energy sector, while women in renewables make up roughly 32 percent of the workforce (IRENA, 2019).
