Mind the Gap: Best Practices to close the Gender Gap in the Renewable Sector - Webinar

September 16 2021 Solar Series Seminar Poster - with WiRE.jpg

While more gender diverse than the energy sector as a whole, the renewable energy workforce is estimated to be comprised of only 32% women. This rate is lower than in other areas of the economy that require similar levels of training and experience. There are also concerns that women are routinely promoted less and paid less across all sectors of the economy. These factors, when combined, are commonly referred to as the ‘gender gap’. Given that the renewable energy sector is growing at an incredible pace and promises to provide an increasing number of jobs in the near future, the renewable energy sector has a significant role to play in addressing the gender gap that exists in our society. As a whole, we need to work hard to engage and retain more women to fill the growing demand for skilled renewable energy workers. Women’s leadership and contributions are essential to ensure that the energy systems of the future address the needs of modern societies and leave no one behind. Join us to explore the issue of the gender gap in the renewable energy industry, and learn what you and your employer can do to help close it. This seminar is sponsored by Butterwick.
