Leanne Son Hing

Dr. Leanne Son Hing is a Professor in the Industrial-Organizational Psychology program at the University of Guelph. Dr. Son Hing specializes in the study of social justice issues at organizational and societal levels. Her work focuses on gender inequities in the workplace, prejudice and discrimination, inequalities of power and status, and the effects of work-life conflict on vulnerable groups during COVID-19. She has investigated how to build a positive diversity climate and its beneficial outcomes for organizations. Finally, Dr Son Hing is an expert on how people’s beliefs about inequalities and meritocracy affect their reactions to income inequality and redistributive policies. She has trained numerous postdoctoral, PhD, MA, and undergraduate students, who are now academics, consultants, and human resource practitioners. Dr. Son Hing is a former Fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (2007-2019), and has received funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, and the Canadian Foundation for Innovation. She was educated at Queen’s University (BAH, 1994) and the University of Waterloo (MA, 1997; PhD, 2000).
