BC Bioenergy Network
Established in 2008, BC Bioenergy Network (BCBN) is the leading agency accelerating the demonstration of bioenergy technologies in the province. This has been achieved through project investment, championing the use of B.C. biomass, and by actively communicating the importance of bioenergy.
BCBN is a not-for-profit society in B.C. that facilitates strategic partnerships between government, industry, Indigenous groups, academia, and associations to identify solutions to decarbonize the impact on our environment. BCBN guides the development of options for industry to deploy in response to a dynamic regulatory environment.
BCBN is aligned with the B.C. Government’s CleanBC Roadmap to 2030 and supporting greater investment and innovation in bioenergy and advanced renewable fuel technologies. BCBN is credited with convening the hydrogen study that led to the Provincial Hydrogen Strategy, the Renewable and Low Carbon Gas Supply Potential Study, and funding BC SMART, the Low Carbon Fuels Secretariat based at UBC and focused on the decarbonization of the long-distance transportation sectors; marine, aviation, rail, and trucking.
BCBN’s near-term focus is increasing the production and use of low carbon fuels to displace fossil fuels, spur innovation and support economic development across the province.
