Congratulations to DEC President, Anouk Kendall for being selected as one of WiETS 100 Canadian women leading the energy transition!

Why Anouk thinks the energy transition is important - “Energy demand is rising uncontrollably due to human population growth. This urgency is compounded by the burgeoning era of electrification. If we are to meet our energy needs without crippling our biosphere, then we need to fully commit to energy efficiency and choose energy sources based on their life cycle impacts from manufacturing, production and by-product management.”
One critical obstacle that we must overcome - “There is a disconnect between what people value in their personal life versus their work life. People must be inspired to and rewarded for creating social good in corporate structures.”
If Anouk was granted one wish to make the world a better place - “Eradication of speciesism (the human-held belief that all other biological species are inferior). True species equality would rapidly eradicate other forms of irrational discrimination such as racism and sexism and would create greater awareness of our life support system, namely the biosphere.”
The Women in Energy Transformation Series features compelling interviews and panel discussions with women from different disciplines and backgrounds who are leading the energy transition in their companies, organizations, and communities.
Thank you to GLOBE Series, Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE), and the Pembina Institute for your dedication to this important initiative and for profiling these leaders at COP27 as part of the Canadian pavilion!!
Thank you to DEC’s members and our board of directors for supporting our progress.
