Energy Transition: Moving Forward on All Fronts

Source: | · ENERGY COUNCIL OF CANADA · | December 2024

Conversations over the past few years among those in the energy sector have featured the term, “energy transition”. We learned that it’s inevitable. That it’s a good thing. That it will challenge us all. While its consequences seem to be widely accepted, its nature is another matter. Asking five people to explain what the energy transition is likely to prompt at least five different interpretations.

There does seem to be agreement that the energy transition is a response to concerns about the negative impact that our current energy systems have on the environment. This year the Energy Council of Canada asked the members of the energy sector what they are doing that they consider a part of the energy transition. The publication that you will find on this page is a sample of the variety of areas and activities that are linked to renewing energy production and use such that their consequences for environmental integrity are reduced or eliminated. These are stories worth hearing.
