Galatea Technologies and Ayrton Energy Earn Accolades at Houston Investor Forum

Two Calgary-based companies grabbed headlines at the 20th annual Energy Tech Venture Forum presented by the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship. The Rice Alliance is associated with Rice University in Houston and was created to focus on solving energy challenges.

Galatea, a company on Calgary.tech’s watchlist for 2023, was recognized with the People’s Choice award based on its tech platform built to enhance workflows for operational, financial, and environmental performance for energy clients.

Helmed by CEO Chad Hayden, Galatea was chosen from the 90 early-stage energy transition companies that were evaluated by industry experts and investors at the forum. The tech startup is on this year’s Foresight 50 list of Canada’s most investable cleantech companies.

The Rice Alliance selected a top 10 of most promising companies at the forum. Included on this list was Calgary’s Ayrton Energy which has created a liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC) storage technology that enables large, scalable, and efficient transport of hydrogen over long distances.
