Source: CLEAN AIR STRATEGIC ALIANCE

This is an invitation to become involved in the Alternate Energy sector participation to the Clean Air Strategic Alliance (CASA) processes in Alberta.

Established in 1994, CASA is a multi-stakeholder partnership. It is composed of representatives selected by industry, government and non-government organizations. Over the years CASA has worked with the stakeholder groups to provide important policy input to air related regulations and guidelines. Currently CASA has been asked by Alberta Environment and Parks to develop better tools and regulation for managing air quality in the province. Including:

  • Implement the Comprehensive Air Quality Management System (CAMS) for Alberta,

  • Conduct strategic air quality planning for Alberta through shared responsibility and the use of a consensus-building, collaborative approach, and

  • Prioritize concerns with respect to air quality in Alberta, and develop specific actions or action plans and activities to resolve those concerns.

Check out the website www.casahome.org

ENMAX Corporation became the sector member representative in 2020 and is looking to expand the involvement of other interested companies that would like to get more active in CASA initiatives.

The Alternate Energy sector near term goals are to revisit the definition of the sector title and which technologies it should encompass, expand its sector membership involvement and consider new representation models and governance for the sector.

Want to participate?

We are looking for people involved in the alternative energy space with experience and interest in influencing air quality measurement or management, air policy development or technologies that enhance air pollution. Must be willing to dedicate time to becoming involved in Alberta Air Issues and contribute to Alternate Energy positions that can be presented in work groups and to the CASA Board.

DEC members with a significant involvement in Alberta that wish to become involved should reach out to Mark McGillivray at mmcgillivray@enmax.com to be part of a distribution list.

Thank you for your consideration.
