RVM The Generator

  • Concord Green Energy, through its project general partners, submitted applications for its Monarch and Coaldale solar projects to the AUC (Proceeding 27191 and Proceeding 27216, respectively) to construct and operate 21 MW (42 MWh) Battery Energy Storage Systems at each site. The Monarch Solar Project is expected to be online by March 31, 2022 and Coaldale by September 2022. Both batteries are expected to be online by April 30, 2023.

  • The AESO is initiating a procurement competition to enter into commercial agreements for Transmission Must-Run ("TMR") service in its Grande Prairie planning area for service beginning July 1, 2022. An information session will be help on March 14th, 2022.

  • Lathom Solar GP Ltd. requested that the AUC (Proceeding 27203) grant it a time extension to June 30, 2024 to complete its 120 MW Lathom Solar Project due to unforeseen COVID-19 related delays. The project was originally expected to be complete in December 2022 under AUC Proceeding 26538.

  • The AESO is holding a stakeholder session on March 28th, 2022 regarding its draft modeling results assessing the Net-Zero Emissions Pathways.

  • Georgetown Solar Inc., which is owned by Westbridge Energy Corporation, submitted an application to the AUC (Proceeding 27205) to construct and operate a 230 MWac solar project that includes 100 MWac (200 MWh) of energy storage. The project is located on approximately seven quarter sections of agricutural land in Vulcan County, 10 km northwest of the Hamel of Mossleigh. It is expected to be online in Q3, 2024.

  • The AESO published revised 2022 Loss Factors, effective January 1, 2022, replacing those published on December 14, 2021.

  • Swan Hills Geothermal Power Corp. has requested (AUC Proceeding 27206) an extension to construct its 21 MW Co-Produced Geothermal Power Plant until December 2022. The plant was orginally developed by Razor Energy Corp and consists of one 15 MW natural gas-fired gas turbine and a 6 MW Organic Rankine Cycle turbine. It was originally approved (AUC Proceeding 24822) to be online by March 31st, 2020.
