RVM The Generator

  • Teric Power Ltd. applied to the AUC for approval to construct and operate three 20 MW battery facilities located in the MD of Provost No. 52.  eReserve 4 (AUC 27234), eReserve 5 (AUC 27239), and eReserve 6 (AUC 27236) will be distribution connected, provide 20 MWh storage, and are expected to be online by November 2022.

  • The AESO held its Net-Zero Emissions Pathways Stakeholder Engagement Session on March 28, 2022. Interested stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on or before April 19, 2022. 

  • Engie Development Canada LP applied (AUC 27240) to the AUC to construct and operate its 400 MW Buffalo Trail Wind Power Project, located in Cypress County between Dunmore and Irvine. The project will be constructed as north and south 200 MW phases, each with separate 240 kV connections.  The north phase is expected to be online by August 1, 2024, while a completion date for the south phase as not been set.  

  • The AESO will hold a Transmission Capabilities Map Information Webinar Session on April 20, 2022 regarding the development of a transmission capabilities mapping tool.  Interested parties are invited to register.

  • Suncor Energy Inc., as Forty Mile Granlea Wind GP Inc., applied (AUC 27258) for approval to construct and operate its 220 MW Forty Mile Solar Power Project. The project will be co-located with the Forty Mile Wind Project (AUC Approval 26873-D02-2021) located 25 km south east of Bow Island in the County of Forty Mile No. 8.  The project is expected to be on line by December 31, 2024.

  • Kiwetinohk Energy Corp. has requested (AUC 27293) approval to construct and operate a 101 MW gas-fired power plant consisting of nine 11.2 MW Bergen reciprocating engines.  The Opal Power Plant is located 1.3 km south of Fox Creek and is expected to be online in December 2024.  The project will have the potential for future carbon capture, which is not part of the current application.
