SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Aspin Kemp & Associates (AKA) of Montague has been awarded three related contracts, worth more than $55 million, to build Summerside's new solar power plant.

First announced in January 2020, the Summerside Sunbank project will consist of a 21-megawatt solar farm and a 10-megawatt battery storage system.

“AKA put forth a compelling proposal for the Sunbank project, including a consortium of Island-based companies,” noted Summerside Mayor Basil Stewart.

Jason Aspin, CEO of Aspin Kemp & Associates, added that his company is excited to work on this significant green energy project.

“Not only is it a great opportunity for our company but (it is a) significant opportunity for growing our clean tech sector in Prince Edward Island. Today is about working collaboratively together to further our Island’s net-zero agenda and we are pleased to be leading that through this announcement today.”
