EQUS acquires land for future facilities at Junction 42 in Red Deer County

EQUS and Red Deer County have announced an agreement has been reached that will see EQUS purchase just over seven acres of land in Red Deer County’s Junction 42 development area.
Officials note that EQUS provides co-operative electricity distribution services to over 13,000 rural Alberta homes, businesses, and farms, many of which are in Red Deer County, as well as commercial and industrial developments including the Junction 42 area.
The acquired land will eventually be the site of a new office, shop, and yard for EQUS’ Central Service Area team, comprised of approximately 40 employees, and their fleet. Red Deer County officials say the Junction 42 Area is located along one of North America’s busiest travel and trade routes along the Queen Elizabeth II Highway.
With 290 acres ready for future commercial development, this location is described as providing easy access to major and secondary highways and is said to be taking shape to become one of Alberta’s most innovative and future-forward business park developments which originated as a partnership between Red Deer County and the Government of Alberta.
