  • Maxim Power Corp. successfully commissioned Milner 2, a 204 MW simple cycle natural gas-fired power plant near Grand Cache, Alberta.

  • Capital Power announced the discontinuation of the Genesee 4 & 5 project, a proposed 1060MW combined cycle power plant that it owns jointly with ENMAX.

  • Heartland Generation Ltd. (as Alberta Power (2000) Ltd.) and TransAlta Cogeneration Ltd. received AUC Approval 25546-D01-2020 to operate the Sheerness Power Plant (Units 1&2) as dual-fuel (coal and natural gas) until January 31, 2023, thereby rescinding AUC Approval 24179-D02-2019 requiring the conversion from coal to natural gas by the same date.

  • Capital Power Generation Services Inc. applied (AUC Proceeding 25623) for a time extensions related to the conversion of Genesee Units 1,2 and 3 to dual fuel due to delays related to managing COVID-19. The application requests the completion time for G1 be amended from July 1 to December 1, 2021, G2 to be amended one year to July 1, 2021, and G3 to be amended from November 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021.

  • The AUC issued Bulletin 2020-22 delaying the completion of the Indigenous Consultation Framework due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is seeking input and advice on the draft from the AUC's Engage Platform.

  • The AUC approved amendments to Rule 027: Specified Penalties for Contravention of Reliability Standards to be effective June 1, 2020.

  • The AESO held Technical Session 2B regarding the Participant-Related Costs and DFO Flow-Through. Session 3 is scheduled for June 25, 2020.
