Natural Gas Innovation Fund launches a $3-Million Natural Gas Production Challenge
Today, the Natural Gas Innovation Fund™ (NGIF) announces the launch of a $3-million funding call for clean technology solutions to support natural gas production in Canada. This funding competition is aimed at advancing cleantech in methane emissions reduction, carbon capture storage and utilization, fuel switching, low-grade heat utilization, and energy efficiency.
NGIF, working with its partners – seven of Canada’s leading natural gas producers – (Birchcliff Energy Ltd., Canadian Natural Resources Limited, Chevron Canada Limited, Perpetual Energy Inc., PETRONAS Canada, Shell Canada, and Tourmaline Oil Corp) will assess proposals and may provide up to $1 million in reimbursable grants per project, covering up to 25 per cent of eligible expenses. This call is directed at small to medium enterprises and technology development start-ups from anywhere in the world to advance cleantech innovation and GHG reductions through a project here in Canada.
NGIF has a trusted partnership with each of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA), Alberta Innovates (AI), the Province of British Columbia Innovative Clean Energy ICE Fund (ICE Fund), and Geoscience BC and will collaborate to explore opportunities to co-fund projects. NGIF’s trusted partnerships allow for a reduction in administrative burden for applicants and provide innovators with access to other potential support. These partners will also consider co-funding successful applicants projects that are located in their respective provinces and deliver significant GHG reductions.
The application deadline is February 2, 2021.
