Paul Benfield
Building on over a decade of energy sector analysis experience within an international non-governmental context, Paul is studying for an MA in Sustainable Energy Policy at Carleton University to consolidate his understanding of energy policy formation and implementation. This program investigates energy topics from the three key disciplinary perspectives of public policy, economics and engineering.
Paul worked as an IT Manager in diverse industries in the UK before his arrival in Canada and has expertise in large dataset collection and management in an energy sector context. He is motivated by research that combines data with an understanding of the geographical and political context in which the industry operates.
His prior studies include an MSc in Latin American Politics at University College London and a BSc in Computer Science at Cardiff University. He aims to combine his interests in natural resource governance and policy support for emerging energy technologies to contribute towards Canada’s sustainable energy future. He is a keen linguist and is looking forward to embracing all the outdoor activities that Canada has to offer.
