Workers in Transition

Workers in Transition is a wage subsidy and incentive program in which EHRC and employers in the electricity sector partner to attract top talent, with transferrable skills from different industries.

Concerns and goals in the industry are still dominated by labour demand issues in the power sector. As Canada moves towards net-zero, the need for qualified workers in the power sector is increasing.

With growing demand, labour demand will be fulfilled via different sources. Based on some initial research, transferrable skills in various other sectors that can be useful in the electricity sector. This EHRC wage subsidy program will be key in helping workers switch from their professions in the current industry into the electricity industry. Overall, the industry will grow and be able to take on the increasing demand in the coming years, with the movement towards Net Zero Emissions.
